WHAT IS ROTARY?
Rotary is a non-religious and non-political organization that brings businesses and leaders together to provide community services, promote integrity, advance goodwill and bring peace between the communities to make the world a better place to live in. One can become a member i.e. Rotarian by invitation and based on social various factors.
The first rotary club was formed by Paul P. Harris and other two members Silvester Schiele and Hiram E. Shorey were also present in the same meeting held in Chicago, U.S.A.
In 1922, the name changed to Rotary International and that's how Rotary Club was formed.
ROTARY WEST TORONTO CLUB
I am a part of the Rotary West Toronto Club and this year's president is Mr. Anthony Florendo. He is a great man with an amazing sense of humour. I always enjoy sitting beside him as he makes me laugh and always is in a light-hearted spirit, what a gentleman he is!
MY EXPERIENCES AT ROTARY :)
I started going out every Thursday to the Irish Pub located in Etobicoke with my dad for fun and to meet new people. Little did I realize I enjoyed it a lot and had so much fun talking to people and just having a gala time. I ordered a dessert (sticky toffee pudding) out of everything on the menu but it was yummy! I believe all the fellow Rotarians present in the evening meeting quite liked me :) I met a couple from Mauritius and they were extremely sweet. I met Toronto West Club's president, Mr. Anthony Florendo, for the first time and I must say he is an amazing person with a kind heart and good spirit.
We ate dinner all the dads had their drinks and we called it a day. I can say I had a great time and now I am always ready to go and meet my fellow Rotarians and have some fun every Thursday evening.
Recently, my brother and I went for a food drive volunteering conducted by the Rotary Toronto West club. My brother was driving the car and I was picking up food packed in a blue bag which was kept outside on the house porch. We both were following Elizabeth and Mr. John. but lost them along the way. Sorted out everything and found them!! Woohoo!
When we were done picking up food packages, we guys headed back to the school where we were supposed to drop off the food as we guys were not the only ones picking up parcels. When fellow Rotarians (me & my bro) dropped off the collected food, we then packed all the food in the car and dropped it off at the charity temple and headed to eat at McDonald's! It was a fun activity and we guys enjoyed this food drive experience.
I attended a meeting today morning on Oct 6th at the Neilson Park Conservation and learnt a lot about magnetic fields and their advantages and disadvantages. Today, was more of a serious meeting. It was a hybrid meeting which means few attendees were present in person and the rest attended the meeting online. Well, I had some croissants and hot chocolate alongside a carrot cake muffin and called it a day.
